Barn Croft Primary School

Mental Health Support Team (MHST)

Barn Croft Primary School is delighted to work in partnership with the Waltham Forest Mental Health Support Team (MHST), a service provided through CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services).

The MHST provides early intervention support for children and families around emotional wellbeing and mental health. This can include support with anxiety, low mood, managing emotions, confidence and challenging behaviour. Support is tailored to the needs of our school community and may include work with individual children, small groups, whole classes, parents and staff.

The team also offers coffee mornings, workshops and other opportunities for parents and carers to learn more about supporting children's emotional wellbeing at home.

We have worked with the MHST for three years and have developed a strong and positive relationship with a fantastic team of practitioners. Their knowledge and expertise help us to provide a range of support for children and families, as well as guidance for staff around children's emotional wellbeing.

The MHST also provides training for our Peer Mentors, who play an important role in supporting positive relationships and wellbeing across our school. You can find out more about our Peer Mentor programme elsewhere on our website.

Ms Nair is our school link for the MHST. Support may be offered by the school in discussion with parents and carers, or parents and carers can request support where appropriate.
